This Squalane Cream and Mask Are Now the MVPs of My Zit-Fighting Arsenal

I was recently given a sample of a product I’d never heard of before (a rare occurrence when you spend as much time reading about skin care as I do): Biossance’s Squalane + Omega 6 Repair Cream . After carefully looking over the ingredient list, and searching online for reviews (all of which were glowing), I began using it twice a day for a week. And very quickly fell in love. The product made my naturally dry, eczema-prone skin look and feel great: smooth, bright, plump, and dewy. The rich yet nongreasy moisturizer uses hyaluronic acid (which deeply hydrates), squalane (which locks in moisture), and omega fatty acids (which plump and nourish the skin). I was particularly pleased because, unlike my once-beloved Sulwhasoo Sleep Mask , which I used to rely on for the exact same set of results, the Biossance is cruelty-free and certified clean. Biossance Squalane + Omega Repair Cream I loved the Repair Cream so much, that I began wondering: Does this brand have any other staples that I don’t yet know about? I had just run out of my Mugwort Mask , a treatment I love for calming and soothing redness, and was in need of another mask to get me through my fast-impending time of the month. So I Googled Biossance, and, much to my delight, saw that they had a mask that incorporated tea tree oil (a zit-busting, inflammation-reducing wonder ingredient that has always worked well on my stubborn hormonal acne ), and squalane (see above). Needless to say, I bought it.

I could not stop obsessing over this product. After using it just once ( after cleansing my face with my Then I Met You Cleansing Balm and exfoliating with my Biologique Recherche P50 ), I noticed a drastic reduction in the size and irritation of a big breakout I was experiencing on my chin area. Unlike my Mugwort Mask, which will help calm redness but won’t do a whole lot when it comes to reducing giant, active blemishes, this mask does an amazing job at shrinking down pesky zits, making them much smaller and easier to conceal. And my very favorite part: Since it’s equal parts squalane and tea tree, it won’t dry your skin out like many other tea tree products do, so long as you follow it up with a good moisturizer (honestly, just use it with the Omega 6 + Squalane moisturizer — using these two products together is a sort of unbeatable, acne-fighting combination.)

I now use this product any time I see any potential congestion or when I wake up with surprise hormonal blemishes . I typically only use this mask once or twice a week, but if your skin seems to like it as much as mine does, I give you permission to use it up to three times a week during bad periods.
